About Us

The Scientific Equipment and Furniture Association (SEFA) is an international not-for-profit trade association whose Executive Members are among the world’s largest manufacturers of laboratory furniture and equipment.  SEFA was formed in 1988 and currently has more than165 members located in 27 countries around the globe.  

SEFA's essential purpose is to Promote the use of "LABORATORY GRADE"  furniture, fixtures and related equipment.  We believe the proper furniture and appropriate enclosures add a blanket of safety in the lab environment.

SEFA is proud to announce partnership with ACHEMA2024

SEFA and DECHEMA have entered into a cooperation agreement by which SEFA will organize a series of lectures and presentations to be made by our SEFA Member Exhibitors during the tradeshow (June 10 - 14th, 2024).  DECHEMA is providing us with a "SEFA Theatre" for this lecture series.

New SEFA Standards

Congratulations to the members of the Vertical Exhausting Laminar Flow Committee (V-ELF) on the unanimous approval of their Standard.  The Committee Co-Chairs,  Pete Daniele (LM Air Technologies) and Ken Dixon (Air Control) worked closely with Paul Lemestre, PE, LEED AP (Cleanroom Engineering Design) to finalize this important standard.  Download a copy though the link below

SEFA Vertical Exhausting Laminar Flow Download

Congratulations to the SEFA 12 Committee, Co-Chaired by Edward Metzger (BioFit Engineered Products) and Kai Schuler of (Interstuhl Büromöbel GmbH & Co. FIND SEFA COMPLIANT PRODUCTS

Nearly ten years ago SEFA's Membership voted unanimously in favor of an amendment to the SEFA By-Laws requiring all manufacturing members of the association and those wishing to become members, to submit a certified test report from a SEFA-approved test lab, establishing that they manufacture at least one "laboratory grade" product the complies with a SEFA Standard.  SEFA maintains  lists for each of the Standards which contain the name of the company along with the model name and/or number for the product(s) successfully tested.

2024 SEFA Lab of the Year® Competition - Now Accepting Entries through August 1, 2024

The SEFA Lab of the Year® Award is a tremendous tribute annually conveyed to a team of professionals for creating an outstanding laboratory building or complex of buildings.  This award expresses the highest honor that can be given to a laboratory building, bringing enormous pride to those having participated in such an effort.  This recognition is not just for members of the design team members, but for everyone that worked on the project -- the client representatives - design team - material vendors - contractors and more.  The Project Entry Portal is open to accept entries for the 2024 SEFA Lab of the Year Competition.    Click below for additional information on the 2024 Competition.
